Unusual Sale to Red Sage

The unusual sale was by me! I have signed the contracts for a work of interactive fiction with Red Sage, which means it will be for the 18+ crowd. It will be called "Megan's Choice". You may recall that I touched on the possibility of this project when I posted a list of current works of modern interactive fiction, some of it adult in nature and some more mainstream. The blurb I sent to my editor at Red Sage for this novella (which will be an ebook) is:

"Megan Malone, the quadrant’s fastest zip ship pilot, is overworked, overtired and craves the surf, sun and sex of a paradise planet vacation. When her employer receives an urgent commission from the government requesting Megan’s services on a diplomatic mission, she’s all set to refuse--especially when she finds out her domineering ex-lover Yusef Gunnen will be part of that mission. But what Megan doesn’t know is that she’s no longer calling her own shots. You, dear reader, are calling the shots. And what you decide Megan will do at the end of each episode will change her life forever."

By interactive fiction, I mean that the novella will consist of a series of scenes with choices at the end of them. Each choice will lead the reader and the heroine down a different path. I have attempted to create a more in-depth character arc and plot for the heroine no matter which path she takes so that wherever she ends up, it's as believable as if I had just written the story straight through. As believable as any of my stories are, that is :). I don't intend for it to be a "choose your own position" sex romp, so we'll see if I achieve my goal once it becomes available.

Fact is, the interactive aspect may not appeal to all readers, but isn't it neat that Red Sage is giving me a chance to experiment like this? If the readership responds well, Megan's adventures will continue in the future. I hope this is the case because have many ideas.

So does the cat.

Way to go, Jody! I'm so thrilled for you!

I am prepared for many whiny IMs. I can't even wrap my mind around how complicated this will be. Of course, I'm pretty simple. Maybe it won't be difficult for you at all. :)

Congratulations!
