My publisher Samhain is doing a Spring Showers promo over at Coffeetime and it starts yesterday. Basically, if you post in response to one of the excerpts (11 or so excerpts a week), you'll be entered in drawings for a massive amount of loot including, at the end of the promo period of a month, an ebook reader, which is a huge deal! I, uh, don't think Samhain authors can enter, alas, because I would love a free ebook reader. I love my PDA, but hello, toys! Hi tech toys!
Anyhoo, you have to register with the forums to post, but it's worth it. Here's the particular link with the Spring Showers forums: http://www.coffeetimeromance.com/board/forumdisplay.php?f=452
As for the Meankitty household, we're parting ways with Food Slave for the next week while #1 is on spring break. Grandma has expressed a desire to see her snot-riddled, cranky, I mean absolutely enchanting, good-natured granddaughters. I hope this visit occurs, anyway, because FS took the minivan in for an oil change today, and the garage dudes mysteriously found $2400 worth of repairs that urgently needed to be done.
Why am I skeptical? Because it's my nature. And because that was the money we were going to use to rid ourselves of our HOUSE EATING FUNGUS, about which we have -- of course -- received conflicting advice. Why is it always this way?? If you're editing your story, if you're repairing your car, if your house is infested with fungus, if ANYTHING is expensive and dubious, no two sources of information can agree on the proper course of treatment. So how do you know what to do about it? I don't know, but I do know that if you back the wrong team, you can regret it. Honestly, I'd rather regret some poorly done story revisions than treating the house eating fungus, because a novel is easier to fix than the decaying, dry rotted foundation of your home.
Unfortunately, I KNOW a lot more about revising a story, and I know next to nothing about wood eating fungus, car repair, why the toilet stops up all the time, intermittent and not-pregnancy related nausea, the inconsistent quality of our wireless modem, why Meankitty scratches stuff with one paw when I'm trying to sleep, the sad state of our yard, and why the TV has diagonal lines on the channel we watch most often but no others.
In other contest news, I chose a winner for my SamhainCafe contest by the name of Valerie and both Valerie and Cathie, whose name was drawn in a recent Romance Studio Book a Day giveaway for an Ellie Marvel antho, will be receiving something unique in their packages, a crafty item Meankitty will be commenting on soon, as she certainly interfered in the production of said crafty items. The packages ought to go in the mail this week.
